Newcastle Durham Socials

The Newcastle Durham socials are coming up. The first is Tuesday the 3rd, where Durham Sailing Club will be coming for a good time in Newcastle. We will all be starting in Sam Jacks at 7, the theme is “bad taste”.

The following week, we will be catching the train to Durham to see what they have to offer us, and for a few rounds of pub golf… dress accordingly.

Re-freshers Fair

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you all. Hopefully this year will see continued success in both the dinghy and yachting teams. I also hope to see more sailors down for Sunday sailing in 2008.

Firstly though, we are trying to sort out some club kit. Namely jackets, rugby shirts, hoodies and polo shirts. If you would like to get any of our team kit, email me at commodore@nusyc.co.uk

We will be running at full speed once exams are out of the way, with our usual Tuesday pub gatherings, team training, and some social sailing on Sundays. Goodluck to all with exams.

Last weekend sailing before Christmas

This weekend sees the last for the sailing club before we break up for the Christmas holiday. We therefore hope to see lots of members down at South Shields. Tuesday at the Box will happen as normal, and I expect to see people continuing out after for the last of 2007.

We will, of course, be resuming normal service in the new year, giving members a good way to clear the cobwebs during the exam season.

As the Christmas Ball is on Friday we thought we had better let you know the final details….

The fun starts at
6pm at NAVY BAR with a Mount Gay reception
- drinks deals and Happy Hour game
- 36-38 Mosley Street, Opposite the Attic Nightclub

7pm onwards (be there by 7.30) at the Assembly Rooms.

When assembly rooms closes we have free entry to BOX Nightclub (tickets will be given out at the Assembly Rooms)

Christmas Ball

The Christmas Ball is on Friday 30 November at Assembly Rooms.

The plan is:

Navy Bar as a pre bar from 6pm - 7pm
Assembly rooms 7pm for drink, food, drink, dancing, drink
free entry and cheap drinks in BOX when Assembly rooms closes

Tickets are £32 for students and £45 for non-students.

There are limited amounts of tickets so it will be first come first served. We will be selling the tickets this Friday (16th) from 12 - 2 in the Mens Bar so bring your cash/cheque to make sure you don’t miss out!

AU Pub Crawl

Tomorrow is the AU pub crawl for which you will need a special T-shirt, which are one sale outside the union. The pub crawl is in aid of helping the AU raise funds, including raising enough funds for the sailing club to update our ageing boats. It sounds as if it’ll be a really good night.

Rubix Social

Come dressed in the colours of the rubix cube. The aim is to swap clothes with other people so that by the end of the night you are dressed in clothes of one colour. (we suggest a trip to primark!)

Starting from Box at 8p.m. on Tuesday the 13th November.

Buy wristbands from us at training on wednesday, social sailing on sunday or in the union on friday and monday 12-2.
